I have this lift, and although it was not my first choice, it was by far my best.My condition recently put me into a custom Pride Quantum power chair so I needed a way to get it to where I wanted to go.I looked all over the internet researching carriers.Although my insurance picked up the cost of my chair, they did not cover a carrier so this was coming out of my pocket.I thought I would save some money and bought a good quality manual lift (a platform with a hinged fold-down ramp).The one I selected was American made and folded up with the pull of a knob when not in use.All-in-all, it was a very nice lift---IF I had been the one who was going to operate it.For my wife, it was never going to work.It weighed close to a hundred pounds which made it a little on the heavy side for her.Also, the ramp was 5' long with no sides and was just barely wider than my chair.One slip and the chair would be off the edge with no way for me to help her.In other words, it was just not going to work.Thankfully, the company I purchased it from has excellent customer service (I used a different distributor to the one selling the carrier on here, not that this one may not be good, I am just not familiar with them) and they took back the manual one refunded in full even though it had been installed and I no longer had the original pacaging (I just had to pay for the return shipping) and sold me this model.After my first experience, I chose this model because the platform is 35.5" X 48" instead of 27" X 42" like the regular AL300 or the even smaller 27.5" X 39" of the AL500.With this size platform, accuracy is not a factor as far as loading the chair.Harmar quality is fantastic, just as I was told.This is a great lift.I couldn't recommend it more strongly.

The ramp is heavy duty, well made and does well to get our wheel chair (with a 100 lb patient in it) into the kitchen area. However, the bottom surface of the ramp is rough and had gouged our newly laid pine flooring, despite the fact that we tried to shied the floor from damage by putting duck tape on the bottom edges of the ramp.
